Family Trips
Planning a Cincinnati family reunion for 20 to 74 people

For a Cincinnati reunion with grandparents, parents and cousins, we'd choose the houses by family branch. Our private apartments let one household handle an early breakfast while another puts a baby down for a nap. Everyone has the whole house for their booked group, with a kitchen and living space in each apartment.
The Historic Gem and Blue House sit next door and book together for 42. The Victorian Estate suits a larger family wanting one house, with space for 32; all three houses sleep 74 together. Start with our family reunion stays and house comparison to choose the arrangement, then build a weekend that leaves time for relatives to catch up.
Reserve for households, then assign the sleeping places
A reunion of 20 can compare the smaller houses as well as the Victorian Estate. For a family of 42, compare the neighboring Francis pair; a plan for 74 uses all three. The Estate is a short walk from the Francis houses. Keeping several generations nearby gives you choices about who shares breakfast and who wants an earlier evening.

The two Francis houses also book together for 42 guests. All three houses sleep 74.
Our large-group sleeping guide shows the beds and bathrooms in each apartment. Published sleeps totals include queen air mattresses in living areas. A couple expecting a fully private bedroom needs a different assignment from cousins happy to share a room or an air mattress. Settle those preferences with the relatives who will use the spaces.
Grandparents and households with babies should have the first choice of apartment. The Historic Gem's ground-floor arrangement is worth examining before the upstairs rooms. Our grandparents and kids guide explains its entrance and interior layout, plus the Victorian hill, Blue House steps and steep Historic Gem upper flight.
These historic houses are not a fit for guests who cannot manage stairs.
The listings include pack-n-plays, high chairs and stair gates. Confirm the equipment for the apartment and number of children coming before finishing your packing list. Put parents and children in a space where their bedtime will work with the people sharing it.
Let the kitchens divide the meal work
Each apartment has its own kitchen. For a reunion, we'd leave breakfast with the separate households and choose a shared dinner to cook together. Someone can handle a child's food in their own kitchen while another branch of the family prepares the main meal.
Assign dishes to apartments before shopping. A dish that needs an oven has to fit the kitchen doing it; a pan or appliance essential to the menu needs confirmation. Keep allergy foods and baby supplies with the household using them. When an air mattress occupies a living area overnight, plan when that room will be ready for breakfast.
- Divide the dinner by apartment, with a named cook for each dish.
- Check oven space and any particular cookware the meal needs.
- Keep breakfast groceries in the kitchens serving those households.
- Confirm the indoor dining arrangement for the relatives eating together.
- Give each apartment its own cleanup jobs.
The houses have kitchen and dining spaces, outdoor seating and BBQ areas. A sleeping capacity of 42 does not tell you that 42 people can sit at one table. Choose meals around the actual rooms and weather. A family can also keep meals within its apartments and spend its shared time on an outing.
Robin stayed at the Blue House for a reunion:
Unbelievable place. Perfect for our family reunion. Absolutely gorgeous remodel, provides the exact amount of privacy. Cleanest AirBnB we have ever stayed at. Preston's communication was proactive and responses were almost immediate to any questions we had. Couldn't recommend this place enough.
Three days with one main outing each day
On arrival day, give the family time to settle in after the regular 4 PM check-in. A simple dinner in the apartment kitchens works around relatives arriving at different times. Eden Park is walkable according to our guests, so it can be an optional outing for people ready to go out that afternoon. Keep that choice open for households bringing luggage and baby gear.
For the middle day, consider the Cincinnati Zoo. Decide whether that household's lunch happens during the visit or back at its apartment, especially when children need an earlier meal. Relatives who prefer a quieter afternoon can return to their own living space at the house. Current visitor information should guide the family's arrival at the attraction.
On the final full day, make the Cincinnati Art Museum and the riverfront separate choices. A grandparent might join the museum visit while a family with young children keeps its nap routine. Later, those who want another outing can head to Smale Riverfront Park. Our Cincinnati guidebook lists these places with other food and activity options.
| Destination | About how long by car | Why it fits this reunion plan |
|---|---|---|
| Cincinnati Zoo | about 9 minutes | Main outing for the middle day |
| Cincinnati Art Museum | about 5 minutes | One choice for the final full day |
| Smale Riverfront Park | about 7 minutes | A separate riverfront outing |
Drive times are without traffic; rush hour, game days and events add time. The trip from a parked car into an attraction still needs to suit the relatives going. A short drive leaves you nearby without deciding how much walking a particular guest can manage.
Booking timing and the relatives who will be at the houses
Family reunions plan furthest ahead in our records, booking about four and a half months before the trip. Groups taking both Francis houses book about four months ahead. Those are historical patterns, so allow time for your own relatives to agree on dates and sleeping arrangements.
Airbnb caps a single booking at 16 guests. Larger families and plans involving several houses use the inquiry form on the stays page; individual house pages link to Airbnb and VRBO. Include children and infants in the headcount. A local relative coming for the day belongs in the visitor discussion too: the rule is registered guests only, with no parties or events.
The Historic Gem has driveway parking plus street parking. The Blue House and Victorian Estate use street parking. Vehicle counts and larger vans or a bus need discussion before booking. Catherine's public review describes an extended-family stay at the Historic Gem:
This was the perfect spot for our family to stay while visiting extended family. Off street parking, clean, comfortable bedding and furniture, well decorated, all the amenities, and in an area that made getting places simple. Loved it and highly recommend if you need a larger accommodation!
Children and infants are welcome. No pets and no smoking apply to every house, with quiet hours from 10 PM to 9 AM. Check-in is 4 PM and checkout is 11 AM. Early access is often possible when no group leaves that morning; a same-day checkout makes it depend on turnover.
Questions we hear from groups
Will each branch of the reunion have a kitchen?
Every apartment has its own kitchen and living space. Assign households to apartments before dividing groceries and cooking jobs. The full room breakdown is in the large-group sleeping guide.
Can grandparents avoid interior stairs during the reunion?
The Historic Gem's lower apartment is the option to examine first. Its entrance still requires exterior steps. The grandparents guide explains the complete route so your relatives can decide whether it works for them.
Can the reunion's grocery bags arrive before 4 PM?
An earlier arrival needs confirmation. When another group checks out that morning, turnover determines the timing. Keep the first reunion meal compatible with regular check-in until an earlier arrival is agreed.
What should we plan for a reunion van or several cars?
The Historic Gem has driveway and street parking; the other houses have street parking. The vehicle count and type affect the arrival plan. Confirm larger-vehicle arrangements before reserving transport.
How do we reserve neighboring houses for more than 16 relatives?
Use the group inquiry route for the full headcount and a multi-house plan. Airbnb's booking counter stops at 16, while the Francis pair has sleeping capacity for 42. Room preferences still determine how the family uses that space.
Can relatives who live in Cincinnati join us during the day?
Extra daytime people need discussion before invitations go out. Registered guests only and no parties or events are the house rules. Include the proposed visitors alongside the overnight family in the booking conversation.
Send us your dates and full headcount, with the households' sleeping and stair needs, children's gear, vehicle count and proposed daytime visitors. We can compare the houses around the people coming.
