The trick to a reunion that doesn't fray
Every big family has the same two truths: everyone wants to be together, and everyone needs somewhere to escape to by day three. Our houses are built around exactly that. Each one is divided into private apartments — own entrance, own kitchen, own living room — so the cousins can stay up loud while the early sleepers actually sleep, and the branch with the baby gets a door that closes.
Mornings pull everyone back together. There are multiple full kitchens in every house, two big picnic tables in the Historic Gem's backyard, and a grill with the propane already on us. The pattern in our reviews is remarkably consistent: privacy when the family wants it, one big gathering space when it doesn't.
These are multigenerational houses on purpose. Every one has ground-level or first-floor sleeping, so the people who shouldn't be climbing to a third floor don't have to. They're historic houses with real stairs between floors — put the knees that have earned a rest on the first floor and give the top floors to the teenagers.

Reunions size themselves: count the beds you actually need, then take the house that covers them. Whichever one fits, you're five minutes from downtown Cincinnati, eight from the Children's Hospital, and forty from the Ark Encounter — a day trip that reliably absorbs a carload of cousins.

This home fit the needs of our family of 10 perfectly. We have 4 adult children and their spouses and we had plenty of room for everyone. We had the beds we needed and privacy for each couple and plenty of bathrooms and kitchen spaces.

Can grandparents manage the houses?
Every house has first-floor or ground-level sleeping, and that's where we'd put anyone who struggles with stairs. Be honest with yourself about the rest: these are historic houses with real staircases between floors, and the Victorian Estate in particular has 26 exterior steps up from the street.
Is there parking for a convoy of cars?
The Historic Gem has free driveway parking on site. The other houses have free street parking — and once I know how many cars, I'll tell you exactly what to expect.
Can we cook for thirty people?
Between the multiple full kitchens, the grill out back, and the picnic tables, yes — big family meals are exactly what these houses are set up for. Skyline Chili at the end of the street covers the night nobody wants to cook.
What if we outgrow one house?
The two Francis houses book together for up to 42, and I can sometimes hold more than one house for the same weekend. Tell me the real headcount — don't shrink it to fit. Bed counts for all three houses are there if you want to do the math first.
Is there anything for the kids to do nearby?
Plenty, and it's all close — Eden Park is minutes away, and the museum center at Union Terminal and the riverfront parks are a short drive. The Cincinnati guide is the same one I hand guests: the parks, museums, restaurants, and essentials we actually recommend.
