Why teams book a house instead of a hotel
A retreat in a hotel means renting a windowless conference room down the hall from where everyone sleeps and calling it culture. A whole house works differently: the meeting happens on sofas, the breakout happens in the kitchen, and the conversation that actually mattered happens in the kitchen again at 9pm. You get the whole building, private to your group — nobody badges in.
Each of our houses is split into private apartments, which solves the thing that makes team travel awkward: everyone gets real privacy at night and one big table in the morning. Separate units also mean an early riser on a call at 7am isn't standing over someone's sofa bed.
Every apartment has its own kitchen — one is a kitchenette — and there is laptop-friendly workspace in every house, with fast Wi-Fi throughout. The 3-Unit Building even has a wired ethernet connection if someone's presentation absolutely cannot drop. Five minutes away is downtown Cincinnati; eight minutes is the Children's Hospital medical campus, which is why visiting medical and research teams keep finding us.
It works the same way for the trips that aren't officially a retreat: a sales kickoff, a board weekend, a team in town for a downtown conference, a crew on a multi-week project. Same math every time — one house, one invoice, and the team ends the day in the same living room instead of texting each other from separate floors.

The same three houses cover the other reasons a group takes a whole building: wedding parties and out-of-town wedding guests who want everyone on one street, and family reunions that need a private apartment per branch of the family. The Practical Stuff.
Is there space to actually hold meetings?
Each house has multiple living rooms — the Victorian Estate has three, one per unit. They hold a team on sofas and chairs comfortably. What we don't have is projectors or conference-room furniture: it's a house, and that's the point.
How is the Wi-Fi?
Fast throughout every house, and every house has a laptop-friendly workspace. The 3-Unit Building also has a wired ethernet connection.
Can the company card pay for it?
Yes — direct checkout takes cards through Hospitable, the same system that runs my platform bookings, and you'll have a proper rental agreement for the file. If your finance team needs something specific, text or email me and we'll sort it.
Can we bring in catering?
Vendors you need — caterers included — are fine. What the houses don't host is events with outside guests; lodging your team is the job.
How big a team can you take?
One house covers 20 to 32. Past that, the two Francis houses book together for up to 42, and I can sometimes hold a third house on the same dates. Send me the headcount and I'll tell you straight whether it fits — you can size it up yourself against all three houses.
